Unlike DVD releases from the 1990s based on the Langlois/MoMA print, this edition is structured within a framework informed by the Oslo version and can be regarded as indicative of an updated understanding of the work in the Japanese context. Its inclusion of comparative visual materials and discussion of differences between multiple prints gives it significant documentary value. However, the provenance and transmission history of the comparative images attributed to the B-negative are not sufficiently clarified, and parts of the accompanying commentary contain inaccuracies and a degree of bias toward a Danish perspective.
